![]() We can't also totally ignore that the last Note, the Note 7, caught on fire and had to be recalled, which for a lot of users is a death sentence for the Note brand. Of course Samsung have their S-Pen that some people find useful, I did like the pen when I had a Note phone, but most people won't buy a phone for its pen, and Samsung have no competition in this area since other companies don't even try to replicate the S-Pen experience. Samaung Note 8 have the same chip as in the Galaxy S8 & S8 plus, screen exactly the same as the S8 plus and it weighs 22 grams more at a whoping 195 grams, that's almost unheard of in modern non metal phones. I should mention that LG did a better job differentiating in all aspects than Samsung did, the LG V30 have a better screen with OLED instead of the LCD the LG G6 had, which can provide deeper blacks and a better always on display, also the V30 have a quad DAC, which the G6 only had in select markets, and the V30 even weighs less than the G6 in about 5 grams lighter. LG V30 on the other hand got great reviews, everyone say you should buy it, and I'm not sure if it was so, if LG had used the same chip in the LG G6, even if both were the faster chips, LG would have less of a differentiation between them. Now the tables have turned, Samsung made the same mistake LG did by dating the Note 8 with the Galaxy S8 plus, both have the same chip, both have the same 6 gigs of RAM, only about 0.1 inch of screen bigger, most of the reviews I saw or read said the same thing, save your money and buy a Galaxy S8 plus instead. Journalists and reviewers went mad about the LG phone, why didn't LG just wait a month and put the Snapdragon 835 instead of the older 821 ? in this way they date the phone with the Google Pixel and the Oneplus 3T, both great phones but about a year old at this point. ![]() This month was especially fateful for LG as LG G6 had an older chip in it compared to the S8, and by comparison seemed dated, LG lost that round against Samsung, that not only released a seemingly faster version with the S8 but also had an even faster version with the S8 plus, which had 6 gigs of RAM and a bigger screen. Sounds good, so what did Samsung do wrong than ? exactly what LG did earlier this year with its LG G6.Įarlier this year, both companies released their flagships for 2017, LG released the LG G6 and about a month later Samsung released its Galaxy S8 and S8 plus. LG released the LG V30, a few days before Samsung released its new Note 8, both are the companies' big phones for the year, both have the latest screen technology, with edge to edge screen and tiny bezels, both have the latest chips in them. This year, 2017, this rivalry was especially interesting, since LG played the long game and if I judge by reviews from IFA in Berlin, LG won, for the first time. ![]() LG and Samsumg are two companies that always seem to battle one against the other, both have similar smartphones, both have similar release dates, both are giant companies from Asia that push as much as they can to become mainstream as a valid alternative to Apple.
